Home August, 2022 - Brea Smith by Andrew Laker | Sep 01, 2022 (?) (?) (?) Please share your story of why your nurse is so special: “I have been a patient on 3Tower since July 4, 2022 and currently am still a patient. I first met Brea as my nurse when I had my gastric sleeve earlier this year in March. I instantly felt we had great communication. I have always felt heard and respected in every possible way while in her care. As a patient, I can say that is truly what we desire. Brea goes the extra mile to build a good rapport with everyone she cares for as a nurse. She is professional, considerate and has Empathetic Disposition. She is a leader and a role model. When I came to the ER on July 4th I had no idea just how sick and malnourished I truly was. Needless to say I was admitted to 3Tower. As of today, it has been 29 days. Just when I was starting to feel discouraged and thought about giving up, I believe GOD sent an angel to remind me of what I was fighting for. When I felt like my doctor and other nurses weren’t always listening to things I needed in order to get better so I could be discharged, she stepped up. She gave me the courage to talk to a patient advocate to make sure I could fully express my concerns and be a part of my treatment plan. Brea protected my dignity and my rights as a patient. I will forever be thankful for her kindness and her heart of gold. She is truly a blessing to this hospital and to all of the patients lucky enough to be in her care!” — Nominated by Sonni R.
