We are proud to be the area's only hospital to offer comprehensive heart care services, around the clock, every day at the Heart and Vascular Center.

Through our partnership with Indiana University Health Cardiovascular, nationally recognized by U.S. News and World Report, you have access to an expert team of cardiac surgeons, close to home.

Making vital resources available

Heart surgery, cardiac intervention, catheterization, electrophysiology, vein treatment, cardiac rehabilitation ... If you have a heart problem, we can help - in a matter of minutes, if need be. And when minutes count, miles matter.

We are proud to offer a highly advanced cardiac intensive care unit, two state-of-the-art cardiac operating rooms, three cardiac catheterization labs (including the first all digital cardiac catheterization lab in Indiana) and an electrophysiology laboratory, all in Columbus.

Services at the Heart and Vascular Center include interventional cardiology procedures such as angioplasty and stenting, as well as the implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators, electrophysiology studies and ablation.

Having such exceptional cardiac care facilities here in our community makes it easier on heart care patients and families and, most importantly, saves lives.

For patients living with cardiovascular disease, the road back to a healthy and active lifestyle can be overwhelming. Columbus Regional Health is making it easier for you to make meaningful changes to improve your health. We are excited to offer a new intensive cardiac rehabilitation program.

Pritikin ICR is a complete lifestyle education program of diet and exercise and promotes a healthy mind-set. Pritikin ICR is taught at the Pritikin Longevity Center, a full-service health resort located in Miami, Florida, and is now conveniently available to Columbus Regional Health patients.

By partnering with Pritikin ICR, we are able to offer the opportunity for improved health outcomes and reduced readmissions and aligns with our continued commitment to provide high-quality care to the Bartholomew County community and surrounding areas.

About Pritikin ICR

The Pritikin Program emphasizes exercise, a healthy mind-set, and an eating plan focused on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish, lean meat, nonfat dairy, and protein-rich plant foods like legumes, or beans. The Pritikin Program is a scientifically proven approach to reducing your chances of having another heart event.

Numerous studies have documented the Pritikin Program’s ability to lower blood cholesterol levels, improve blood pressure and blood sugar control, and reduce other lifestyle-related risk factors. Pritikin ICR involves eating well, exercising regularly, and nurturing a healthy mind that promotes long-term health and well-being.

Medicare Coverage

All Pritikin Programs are covered by Medicare for qualifying individuals. The medical conditions that qualify for Medicare reimbursement include heart attack, coronary artery bypass surgery, angioplasty, stable angina (chest pain), heart or heart-lung transplants and heart valve repair or replacements.

How We Compare

In addition to beating the national average door to balloon time by 37 minutes, our team uses a cardiovascular surgery suite that’s equipped with the most advanced heart care technology available. Point-of-care testing capabilities allow us to get lab results in the operating room immediately to make critical decisions faster.

We offer advanced cardiac care, including 24/7 interventional cardiology and heart surgery, as well as electrophysiology, intensive cardiac rehabilitation, and vascular disease services.

A regional hospital with major metropolitan-like advantages

We are pleased to be among the first hospitals in Indiana to use an all-digital x-ray cardiovascular imaging system. This allows our cardiologists to see your heart more clearly than ever before, and provides for better diagnosis of and treatment for coronary artery disease. (We also use PET/CT imaging for the early diagnosis of heart disease.)

The wide range of our interventional capabilities (tools and techniques that allow us to handle almost any type of heart emergency that arises) is also notable.

CRH is also one of only seven hospitals in Indiana to have received accreditation as a National Chest Pain Center. We first received this national accreditation in 2004, and have once again been designated as an Accredited Chest Pain Center by The Society of Chest Pain Centers.

Standout survival rates

A nationally recognized organization that’s dedicated to improving the care and survival rates for heart failure patients has taken notice of our results. You may not be familiar with The Healthcare Accreditation Colloquium, but they deemed our Heart & Vascular Center to be an Accredited Heart Failure Center. We appreciate their recognition, and if you have a heart attack, you might too.

Even our beds are innovative

After heart surgery, patients are taken to our universal bed cardiovascular unit. This new approach allows you stay in the same room throughout your stay, cared for in the same bed, by the same team.
