Breathe Easier for Just $25

A low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) scan of the chest helps our multidisciplinary Lung Nodule Review Board detect potential lung cancer earlier when it is easier to treat.

You may benefit from a lung cancer screening if you meet these eligibility requirements:

  • age 50 through 80 years old, AND
  • have a history of heavy smoking, AND
  • are either a current smoker or have quit within the past 15 years

Heavy smoking means a smoking history of 1 pack a day for 20 years or 2 packs a day for 10 years. Other qualifying factors include having a family history of lung cancer, being exposed to certain industrial activities or being raised by parents who smoked. The more risk factors you have, the greater your case for screening.

“The best thing about lung cancer screening is that you have a current picture of your lung health,” says Dr. Greg Dedinsky, thoracic surgeon and member of the Lung Nodule Review Board. “Even if the answer is ‘I’m OK,’ that’s not a bad bit of knowledge.”
