Please share your story of why your nurse is so special:

“I am a night shift tech at CRH. I got floated to 3T to sit with a patient who was non-verbal and could be combative at times during care. I noticed that the patient was soiled and needed to be cleaned so I called their nurse for assistance with bathing. I had never met Kysie before because I normally work on a different unit.

She was so kind and willing to help out. When we began the bath the patient became very agitated and started to hit and scream. I thought we were not going to be able to complete the bath because of the agitation and stress the patient was experiencing. However, Kysie asked the patient if she could sing to them during the bath to make them feel more relaxed. She began singing the song, “Somewhere over the rainbow” and they immediately calmed down.

I have never seen anything like it. They laid still and calm as they watched her sing for the remainder of the bath. Her singing made it possible for us to really take our time and make sure the patient got a good bath.

She went above and beyond her job description to make sure her patient was able to receive the best care possible while also ensuring that they were comfortable and relaxed the entire time. "
