Dr. Zipper grew up in Fishers, Indiana. He studied biochemistry at Indiana University and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. While at IU, he participated in the Little 500 in 2008 and met his wife, Alex.
Following college, he commissioned in the United States Air Force and was recognized as a Distinguished Graduate during Commissioned Officer Training at Maxwell Air Force Base.
He then attended medical school at Indiana University and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. Following medical school, he completed his residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. While in residency, he was awarded the Thomas Alexander Kirkland Jr Excellence in Care Award.
After residency, Dr. Zipper served as an Element Leader in the 633d Medical Group and Medical Director of Urology at Langley Air Force Base, Product Line Representative for the Tidewater Military Health System, and also worked as a staff urologist at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.
After completing his military service, he joined Columbus Regional Health.
He has three children and enjoys cycling, running, and watching college basketball.
