Meet the Navigation Team at the Cancer Center

Jessica Beaty, BSN, RN, OCN

Jessica joined Columbus Regional Health in 2016 and started her career in the Cancer Center as an oncology nurse in 2017. Jessica has been an Oncology Nurse Navigator since 2022, previously working as an Oncology Clinical Coordinator, Team Lead Nurse of infusion, and Certified Oncology Infusion Staff Nurse. Prior to oncology, her nursing experience included inpatient medical-surgical care, as well as working for the Tennessee Department of Health. Jessica holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University.

As an Oncology Nurse Navigator, Jessica helps guide patients and their families at the start of diagnosis and throughout the continuum of their care, serving as an advocate and resource along the way.

Lauren Beckett, RN, BSN, OCN

Lauren earned her associates degree in nursing from Ivy Tech-Columbus. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Indiana University Purdue University – Columbus.

She started her career at Columbus Regional Health in 2011. In 2014, she joined the Cancer Center team as a registered nurse and has found her true passion in caring for oncology patients. She became certified in oncology in 2018.

As an Oncology Nurse Navigator, she serves as a patient advocate to remove barriers and ensure patients have the support they need to begin treatment and to follow them through their cancer journey.

Kim Coy, RN, BSN, OCN

Kim completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Indiana University School of Nursing, IUPUI.

She started her career at Columbus Regional Health in 2009. In 2013, she joined the Cancer Center team and found her true passion in caring for oncology patients. She began working as the Oncology Nurse Navigator in 2018 and helped to expand the Navigation program at Columbus Regional Health.

As an Oncology Nurse Navigator, she serves as a patient advocate to remove barriers and ensure patients have the support they need when faced with a cancer diagnosis.


Return to the Cancer Center

The Oncology Nurse Navigator’s role is to help patients and their caregivers navigate the complicated cancer journey. Navigators can help with many aspects of individualized cancer care including:

  • Coordination of Care: Enhance communication across the Multidisciplinary Team and serve as a liaison between the Oncology team and Inpatient units.
  • Education: Help patients and family members understand diagnosis and treatment options and ensure patients have the information they need to make informed decisions about their care.
  • Advocacy: Help identify and promote patient goals for treatment.
  • Resource Needs: Evaluate patient for individual needs and barriers to care and connect patients to an Oncology Social worker, Oncology Dietitian, Financial Advocate, and other internal and external community resources.
